The Mark Hotel’s artist-illustrated colouring book captures the essence of New York City
The well-heeled residents of The Mark Hotel in New York have been immortalised in black and white, ready to be coloured in.
The Colourful Mark, illustrated by French artist and culture chronicler Jean-Philippe Delhomme, adds to the hotel’s many outre amenities (including a hot dog stand and flower cart), cementing its status as ‘New York’s most boldly lavish hotel’. The book, on sale in the hotel and its new, dedicated online store, is designed to appeal to one of The Mark’s key demographics: families, while intending to spark the imagination of the young at heart too.

Bringing the property’s authentic character to life, The Colorful Mark is a graphic tale, filled with witty illustrations about life at The Mark, while looking self-reflectedly at the cast of talents that have made the hotel what it is.
Following a day in the life of anthropomorphic dogs, mice and rabbits (each with decidedly aristocratic demeanours), we order baguettes for lunch, catch a quartet at The Met, and take selfies in a carriage on the way to Bergdorf’s.
As such, the illustrations not only capture life at The Mark, but life in New York City – offering us the unique opportunity to add our own colour to its streets.§
