After a pair of testing mountain stages at the weekend, riders taking part in the 2017 Vuelta a España have a chance to rest their weary legs and recuperate during the race’s second rest day on Monday.

Team Sky’s Christian Knees kicked the day off with a happy meal
Good work Julian Alaphilippe: taking a kip and keeping the sponsors happy
Bahrain-Merida’s Valerio Agnoli stays on two wheels, but the video is edited just before we find out whether he rides into a vehicle or not
No rest for Movistar, as the Spanish team’s riders get in some time trial training
Same goes for Quick-Step Floors’ Niki Terpstra, who takes a bend in the Circuito de Navarra motorsport venue, part of Tuesday’s time trial course

Trek-Segafredo’s Julien Bernard does a bit of sight-seeing
The 2017 Vuelta a España resumes on Tuesday with stage 16, a relatively long 40.2-kilometre individual time trial from Circuito de Navarra to Logroño. Race leader Chris Froome (Team Sky) is one of the leading favourites to take the stage victory and the general classification could have a serious shake-up.
The Vuelta concludes in Madrid on Sunday, September 10.
