La Doyenne marks the end of the Ardennes Classics and the 103rd edition of this prestigious monument will be live on Eurosport

The Ardennes Classics come to an end on Sunday, April 23, with the 103rd edition of Liège–Bastogne–Liège, which takes place over a tough 258km route and inflicts 10 climbs in total on the peloton, each softening up the remaining riders ahead of the final Côte de Saint Nicolas.

This year’s race will be contested by a star-studded line-up including 2015 champion Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) and 2013 victor Dan Martin (Quick-Step Floors).

There will also be a plethora dangerous one-day riders such as Ben Hermans (Trek-Segafredo) and Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky) as well as Tour de France climbing specialists in Romain Bardet and Rafal Majka.

With the Grand Tours around the corner, all will relish the chance to capture the last Ardennes Classic race before the season’s close.

Last year saw Team Sky’s Wout Poels take home the win as he battled it out with Rui Costa (Lampre-Merida) and Michael Albasini (Orica), sprinting away in the last 200m to secure Team Sky’s first ever Monument.

Unfortunately, a crash at the Ruta del Sol led to Poels missing Paris-Nice and despite training, the Dutchman will now also miss Liège–Bastogne–Liège.

All the action will be live on Eurosport 2 from 1.15pm on Sunday with highlights being shown later in the day and again on Monday.
