Final call for Travel Photographer of the Year 2016 entries
The popular Travel Photographer of the Year 2016 competition is calling for any last entries before the contest closes on October 1st
The judges are braced for a flood of last-minute entries to the popular international Travel Photographer of the Year 2016 competition but they are still calling out for more, with the deadline for the 2016 competition drawing near. Entries will be received for a few more weeks, up until October 1st.
This year’s TPOTY competition features three portfolio categories, three ‘One Shot ‘ single image categories, a ‘Smart Shot’ category for images taken on a mobile phone or tablet, Young TPOTY, a ‘New Talent’ award and an HD video category.
The competition touts a glut of prizes with a total package worth around £30,000, as well as providing winning entrants with a chance to see their work displayed at exhibitions both in the UK and overseas during 2017 – including one at the University of Greenwich in London’s impressive Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In addition to the significant international exposure that comes with winning TPOTY, the overall winner – the Travel Photographer of the Year 2016 – will recieve £4,000, a selection of StaaG luxury leather travel goods and sterling silver accessories (worth over £1250), £500 to spend on the Páramo clothing of their choice, and a Plastic Sandwich personalized leather portfolio case.
Other category prizes include Fujifilm X-Series cameras and lenses, winter or summer voyages for two people along Norway’s stunning coastline with Hurtigruten, clothing options from Páramo, luxury leather travel goods from StaaG, personalized leather portfolio cases from Plastic Sandwich, Photo Iconic tuition, destination app guides from SNAPP Guides, cash prizes, and giclée exhibition prints from Genesis Imaging.
One of the world’s biggest travel photography awards, TPOTY attracts entries from over 110 countries each year, with amateur and professional photographers competing for a coveted TPOTY title. The awards are judged by a highly respected international panel of judges, which includes the adventurer, naturalist, wildlife filmmaker & environmental activist Catherine Capon, Daria Bonera (Photo Agency Director & Photo Editor for National Geographic Traveler Italy), curator Brigitte Lardinois, renowned wildlife photographer Chris Weston, Dr Michael Pritchard FRPS (Director-General of The Royal Photographic Society), the champion jockey Richard Dunwoody MBE (now a travel photographer) and Caroline Metcalfe, former Director of Photography, Conde Nast Traveller.
Entries can be submitted online via tpoty.com or as prints. Entry fees are £8.00 for the single image categories and £15 for portfolios, New Talent and HD Video categories. Entry for the Young TPOTY is free.
